Just a 5 minute drive away lies the picturesque
fishing port town of Ayamonte, historically the
gateway to the Algarve and Portugal. The small tree-lined Plazas are
filled with busy pavement cafes and bars, serving the great locally caught
seafood that is characteristic of the area. Relax and sample some of the best
tapas in Spain. |

Ayamonte
benefits from a picturesque marina which is lined with palm trees, and a
port where you can catch the ferry to Vila Real, the Portuguese town on
the opposite shore. Fresh fish is caught every day and available to buy
at the local fish market and shops. Why not hire a speed boat for a day
out on the
Guadiana River or even out
to sea. |
Additionally, the motorway is only a short drive away, linking all
the other towns and amenities in the region, and providing
incredibly easy access to Portugal via the motorway bridge. The
infinite beaches of the Costa de la Luz, lined by pine groves, form
an arch from Ayamonte to Tarifa, from the mouth of the Guadiana
River to the Strait of Gibraltar. This combination of scenery,
history, traditional Spanish atmosphere and nearby beaches, make the
Costa de la Luz an idyllic destination.

Ayamonte offers more
than 300 days and 3,000 hours of sunshine almost every year,
resulting in a pleasant and relaxing Mediterranean climate.
Temperatures rarely rise above 30°C in summer thanks
to the cool Atlantic breeze. Winter temperatures seldom fall
below 12°C at night but easily reach 20°C by noon, an ideal
climate for winter golf holidays. |
